European Fan Palm Trees
The European Fan Palm is a cold hardy palm that can tolerate cold down to 5-10F and is suited for landscape in USDA zones 7b-11. Brunswick County, NC is USDA zone 8a.
The frond of the European fan palm is very similar to the windmill but the growth of the tree is more bush like and will continue to grow from the bottom of the tree even after it is trimmed.
It has multiple trunks that grow from one root ball.
The stems are covered with sharp thorns so a low traffic area is suggested. It makes a great focal point in any landscape bed.
